Growing since 1969.
Milestones from the company history – from the founding by Ing. Erwin Gruber to the establishment of the German company.
- 1969
Founded by Ing. Erwin Gruber
Development and production of custom fault annunciator modules and signalling systems for switchgear.
Later, accessories for programmable controllers were developed and manufactured – in particular for signal input and output and the power supplies required for this.
- 1985
Expansion of the business area
Taking on additional renowned agencies and expanding the product range.
- 1988
ÖVE certification of own brands
First ÖVE certification of the company's own brands.
- 1992
Conversion into a limited liability company
The sole proprietorship is converted into a limited liability company. Growing space requirements for office, warehouse and workshop, together with a staff of twelve, lead to the move to Gastgebgasse in Vienna.
Additional factory agencies expand the trading programme: GANZ, Budapest (analogue and digital measuring instruments, current transformers); SCHNEIDER, Offenburg (transformers and power supplies); SACI, Madrid (digital multifunction meters); COMATEC, Italy (transformers and power supplies for DIN-rail mounting).
- 1999
New site in 1230 Vienna
The growing warehouse leads to a move to Eduard-Kittenberger-Gasse. Trading agreements follow with ELKO CZ for modular time and monitoring relays, and ENTRELEC-SCHIELE for industrial devices and automation technology.
GRUBER Electric serves customers in control engineering, plant engineering, mechanical engineering, industry and wholesale.
- 2002
Expansion of technical expertise
On 1 January 2002, the technical team is expanded with a specialist in automation and control engineering to provide expert support for technical questions.
- 2005
GRUBER Electric Ges.m.b.H. established
Cooperation with Technofit Austria expands product variety and know-how to meet customer requirements even better.
- 2006
Expansion of the product range
GRUBER presents its own GR time and measuring relay series, including the GRM-91U multifunction time relay and the GRVR-52(N) asymmetry relay. The Austrian Patent Office grants design protection for the GR-LED signal indicator lights.
Frequency converters and soft starters, GSM remote monitoring and alarming, programmable logic controllers and touchscreens are added.
- 2007
International trade fair presence
For the first time in the company's history, GRUBER Electric Ges.m.b.H. exhibits at HANNOVER Messe Industrie.
- 2008
Representation of SWARCO FUTURIT
SWARCO FUTURIT and GRUBER Electric begin working together. GRUBER supplies FUTURIT signal devices manufactured by GRUBER to customer specifications.
- 2015
Move to Kottingbrunn
After 18 months of construction, the entire company moves from Vienna to Kottingbrunn. The new construction and refurbishment are characterised by modern technology and environmental protection measures.
- 2019
Handover to the next generation
Ing. Martin Graf takes over the company as managing director for its 50th anniversary. The celebrations at Grand Casino Baden also mark Harald Graf's appointment as Kommerzialrat.

GRUBER Electric GmbH is established in Weißenfels, Germany.
